The Turkmenistan Chess Championship was held at the Ashgabat Specialized Chess and Checkers School. Over 500 young athletes competed for 36 sets of medals among boys and girls in the age categories 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17 years old and younger in three disciplines: classical chess, rapid chess and blitz chess.

Following the competition, the team from the Lebap region claimed a convincing victory, winning 51 medals (20 gold, 20 silver and 11 bronze). The team from the Mary region took second place with 19 medals (6 gold, 5 silver and 8 bronze). The Ashgabat team rounded out the top three with 18 medals (4 gold, 4 silver and 10 bronze). Hangeldi Muradov and Bahar Jumayeva each won three gold medals in the youngest age category (U7). Charyhekim Charyyev, Bagul Jumayeva, Lale Vepayeva, Alyhan Batyrov, Nurhan Babanazarova, Maksat Avliyakuliyev, Gurbanmyrat Rustemov and Jahan Rejepova also excelled in the competition.

The athletes who distinguished themselves in the competition were awarded various medals and certificates of honor.
