The national sambo team of Turkmenistan won four medals at the 2026 Sambo World Cup, held on September 19–20 in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.
The competition featured three disciplines — sport sambo, combat sambo and sambo for athletes with visual impairments — for both men and women. Dushanbe hosted the Sambo World Cup for the second consecutive year.
On the first day of the tournament, Sapar Dovletov won a bronze medal in the men’s sport sambo event in the up to 71 kg weight category.
On the second day, Turkmen athletes added three more medals to the national team’s tally. In combat sambo, bronze medals were won by Abdulla Nazargeldiyev in the up to 88 kg category and Malikberdy Begiyev in the over 98 kg category. The team’s gold medal was secured by Ykbal Saparova, who won the women’s sport sambo competition in the up to 50 kg weight category.
Thus, following the tournament, the Turkmenistan national sambo team finished with one gold and three bronze medals.
