A meeting with the members of the UN missions in Turkmenistan took place at the Ministry of Sport and Youth Policy of Turkmenistan. Minister D. Gulgeldyev and ministry officials met with representatives of the United Nations, led by UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan Elena Panova.
A lively exchange of views took place during the meeting at the Ministry. The issues under discussion included the UN initiatives and proposals to be implemented in the youth policy and within the on-going programmes.
The main aspect of the dialogue on the national youth law was the enhancement of cooperation in protecting young people from unhealthy habits and supporting their growth and psychological and physical development. An agreement to hold a roundtable meeting in December 2019 was reached. The work done under the 2015-2020 State Youth Programme and the progress in developing and implementing a new state programme will be evaluated.
The UN representatives presented the views on the consolidation of efforts to implement the youth policy and the related initiatives and proposals.
A working roundtable meeting, involving the representatives of the two parties, is scheduled for next week.
