The XXXIV Summer Olympic Games are scheduled to be held in the summer of 2028 in Los Angeles. Paris and Los Angeles were the only official candidates to host the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. On July 31, 2017, the authorities of Los Angeles and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) reached an agreement for Los Angeles to withdraw its bid for 2024 and instead host the 2028 Games.

The official announcement naming the host city for the 2028 Olympic Games was made on September 13, 2017, at the 130th IOC Session in Lima. For the first time in Olympic history, the host city of an upcoming Games was selected 11 years before the event. Los Angeles has previously hosted the Summer Olympic Games twice, in 1932 and 1984. The United States last hosted the Summer Olympics in 1996, in Atlanta.

At the 2028 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles, the use of cars will be prohibited. The city administration has pledged to make the Olympics the most environmentally friendly in history.

A total of 353 medal sets will be awarded — 24 more than at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.
