The 2026 Asian Games are a multi-sport event that will be held in September–October 2026 in the Japanese city of Nagoya and Aichi Prefecture. The 2026 Games in Aichi and Nagoya will be the third Summer Asian Games to be held in Japan, following Tokyo in 1958 and Hiroshima in 1994.
The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) selected Nagoya as the host city for the Games at its Annual General Assembly in Da Nang, Vietnam, on September 25, 2016. Initially, the OCA had planned to select the host city for the 2026 Games in 2018, but the decision was brought forward because of the region’s busy sporting calendar, including three consecutive Olympic Games between 2018 and 2022, held in PyeongChang, Tokyo and Beijing.
At these Asian Games, competitions will be held in 41 sports, comprising 68 disciplines and 460 medal events across 53 venues.
