The opening ceremony of the Universiade for university students took place in Ashgabat, marking the 30th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan. The sports forum is also being held under the auspices of the International Year of Peace and Trust.

At the vibrant opening ceremony, Turkmen students performed dances from around the world. During the competition, participants will compete in 20 sports, including track and field, swimming, basketball, handball, futsal, sambo, Greco-Roman and national wrestling, as well as chess and tennis.

The competition began at the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports, where the first events – volleyball, basketball and futsal – were announced. The annual Universiade reflects the country's commitment to developing high-performance sports and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
