Today the women's 100-meter race started in the athletics program at the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris. In the preliminary round of these competitions Turkmen athlete Valentina Meredova finished with a result of 12.01 seconds and won the right to compete in the next stage of the competition. In her second race at the 2024 Olympics our compatriot showed her best result this season – 11.95 seconds. However this was not enough to reach the semifinals.
Meredova is 39 years old. She has been involved in athletics for 27 years. She holds Turkmenistan's records in the 60-meter indoor and 100-meter outdoor races. The Olympics in Paris were the second in Meredova's career after her debut at the 2008 Games in Beijing, China. Currently she successfully combines active sports activities with coaching work at the sports club of the Ministry of Construction and Architecture of Turkmenistan.
