The national teams of Thailand, Kuwait, Mongolia and the Maldives were drawn as opponents of the Turkmen football players following the draw held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the qualifying tournament of the AFC U17 Asian Cup™ Saudi Arabia 2026, The Turkmenistan: Golden age electronic newspaper reports.
The qualification will involve 38 teams divided into seven groups. Three will have six teams and four will have five teams.
As a result of the draw, Turkmenistan and its opponents ended up in Group F, the matches in which will be held in the city of Chonburi, Thailand.
The Qualifiers will be contested in a single round-robin centralised league format from November 22 to 30, 2025.
All group winners will progress to the 21st edition of the Finals, where they will join the nine AFC representatives from the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 who have automatically qualified, namely Qatar, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, Korea Republic, DPR Korea, Japan, Tajikistan, United Arab Emirates and Indonesia.
The Finals will be contested on May 7 to 24, 2026.
