The Turkmenistan tennis championship among boys and girls aged 14 and 18 has concluded on the courts of the multifunctional stadium «Ashgabat».
Over the course of five days approximately 150 young tennis players from Ashgabat and the regions of the country competed for the title of the strongest in singles and doubles categories.
In the girls' competition eighth-grader Ilima Guseynova from specialized secondary school No 42 in Ashgabat stood atop the podium four times. Initially, she triumphed in the singles category in two age groups – under 14 and under 18, and then secured victories twice in doubles competitions. In the younger age group Ilima succeeded alongside eighth-grader Leyli Esenova from secondary school No 135 in Ashgabat, while in the older category she partnered with Maria Atamuradova, a tenth-grader from secondary school No 12 in Ashgabat.
Among the boys, the winners of the Turkmenistan Championship were seventh-grader Ali Geldyev from specialized secondary school No 2 in Turkmenabat (under 14) and ninth-grader Selim Chagylov from secondary school No 18 in Ashgabat (under 18).
In addition to his victory in the singles category, S.Chagylov earned another gold medal in doubles competition (under 18) alongside eleventh-grader Selim Pirdjikov from secondary school No 88 in Ashgabat. In the younger age group (under 14) the doubles category was won by seventh-grader Suleyman Khudaiberdyev from secondary school No 86 in Ashgabat and eighth-grader Rustam Emirkhanov from secondary school No. 12 in Ashgabat.
Following these competitions the composition of the Turkmenistan youth teams among juniors aged 14 and 18 will be determined for participation in international tournaments.
