Galkan wins Winner’s Cup of International Ice Hockey Tournament
Galkan Hockey Club of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan
defeated 4-2 (1-1, 0-1, 3-0) Russian ADIHIC-Kazan from the Republic of Tatarstan in the final and won the Cup of the International Ice Hockey Tournament in Ashgabat.
The eight-time champion of Turkmenistan lost 1-2 after the second period. However, the Turkmen team turned the game around in the final 20-minute period and gained a strong-willed victory.
Belarusian Volat gained a convincing victory 12-4 (3-0, 6-2, 3-2) over Uzbek Feniks in the 3rd-place playoff.
At the closing ceremony, the Galkan hockey players received the Cup and gold medals, and the ADIHIC-Kazan (Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation) and Volat (Belarus) teams received silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Special prizes were awarded to the referees and the best players of the tournament: goalkeeper Yaroslav Lagun (Volat), defender Musa Annasaparov (Galkan) and forward Aidar Miftakhov (ADIHIC-Kazan).
The International Ice Hockey Tournament was held at the ice arenas of the Winter Sports Complex from April 15 to 20. It brought together the hockey clubs from Bahrain, Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Oman, Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Turkmenistan.
