The State Committee on Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Education, the National Centre of Trade Unions, the Central Council of the Women's Union and the National Student Sports Federation of Turkmenistan organized the mass sports events for lecturers and students of the local institutions of higher education. The tournament ‘Zeminiň görki – zenanlar’ was dedicated to International Women's Day and was held at Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports on March 1–6.

The team of Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports triumphed in the chess and duzzum events. The representatives of Magtymguly Turkmen State University took the second place, and the team of Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute entered the top three.

The representatives of International University of Oil and Gas won the table tennis event. The team of Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports became the runners-up, and the representatives of Turkmen State Institute of Finance took the third place.

The volleyball event was very close and concluded with the victory of the team of Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports. The representatives of Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute took the second place, and the team of Turkmen State Institute of Finance entered the top three.

The winners received the letters of honour and gifts from the public organizations of Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports.
