The Asian Weightlifting Championships continues in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent. The athletes of the Turkmenistan team are participating in the competition. A 3rd year student from Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports Gaigysyz Torayev successfully performed in the under 81 kg weight category and stood on the podium.

He lifted 148 kilograms in the snatch, which brought him the 4th result. He lifted 189 kilograms in the clean and jerk and became a bronze medallist. Gaigysyz Toraev won a bronze medal with 337 kilograms in the overall standings.

The Asian Championships, which has brought together 200 athletes from 34 countries, is a qualifying tournament for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris. The Turkmenistan national team is represented at the Asian Championships by 14 athletes.
