The 19th Summer Asian Games opened in Hangzhou, China. The solemn opening ceremony of the 19th Summer Asian Games took place at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium with a capacity of 80,000 spectators, commonly known as Big Lotus.

Three robots Chenchen, Congcong and Lianlian serve as the mascots of the 19th Summer Asian Games.  

The competitions in 61 disciplines in 40 sports, in which 11,934 athletes from 45 countries will compete for 481 sets of medals, will be held until October 8. They will also compete for 74 spots of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in 9 sports.

The official delegations marched in alphabetical order across the stadium arena. The delegation of Afghanistan  opened the parade. Together with Afghan athletes, the teams of 45 countries participating in the Asian Games marched under endless ovations. The Turkmenistan national team is among them.

Turkmen athletes are participating as an independent team in the large-scale continental games for the 8th time.
