The national ice hockey team of Turkmenistan successfully performed at the 2023 IIHF World Championship Division III held in Cape Town, the Republic of South Africa. The event demonstrated that our national hockey school has a perfect basis.

Besides our compatriots, the national teams of the Republic of South Africa, Luxembourg, Chinese Taipei and Thailand competed in the Division. The national team of Turkmenistan defeated two of these opponents and scored 6 points. Our compatriots won the teams of Luxembourg and Thailand with a lopsided score of 4:1 and 6:3 respectively.

Thus, besides our ice hockey players, the national teams of Thailand and the Republic of South Africa scored 6 points. However, our national team became the runner-up due to the results of the head-to-head matches and other statistics.

The silver medals in the Division III inspired the Turkmen ice hockey players to win new victories.
