The issues of preparing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Turkmenistan Tennis Federation and the International Tennis Federation were discussed by Eziz Dovletov, the Chairman of the Turkmenistan Tennis Federation (TTF), Vice-President of the Asian Tennis Federation, with David Haggerty, the President of the ITF, on the sidelines of the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament held in London, The Turkmenistan: Golden age electronic newspaper reports.
According to the Turkmenistan Tennis Federation (TTF), the document being prepared for signing aims to strengthen cooperation with the largest and most authoritative international sports organization, which unites 213 national tennis organizations.
A strong impetus for this was the visit of David Haggerty, the President of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), to Ashgabat. As is known, last March he, together with Yuriy Polskiy, the President of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF), visited Turkmenistan for the first time. During the two-day visit, the guests were received by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. During the meeting, the ITF and ATF expressed interest in developing fruitful cooperation with Turkmenistan, where special attention is paid to stimulating and supporting sports and promoting the principles of a healthy and active lifestyle in society.
Emphasizing that great success has been achieved in this direction in our country, Mr. David Haggerty presented the head of state with an ITF Certificate for contributions to the development of tennis in Turkmenistan.
In the same year, the Tennis Complex of the Olympic Village in Ashgabat was recognized by the Asian Tennis Federation as a Training Center of the Asian Region. The corresponding certificate was presented on June 1 at a ceremony in the Ashgabat Olympic Village by Seyed Amir Borghei, ITF representative for tennis development in Asia.
It is expected that the forthcoming Memorandum to be signed will outline contractual steps for even greater integration of Turkmen athletes into world tennis, increase the number of professional coaches in Turkmenistan, facilitate the exchange of specialists, and involve international experts and coaches in the training process of the Turkmen national team.
The President of the International Tennis Federation noted the enormous potential of Turkmen coaches. In this regard, special attention was given to the preparation for the upcoming regional ITF Level 2 training seminar in Ashgabat, which will be held from August 4 to 15 at the Asian Regional Training Center «Tennis Toplumy» in the Olympic Village. The forum will gather regional coaches and 12 Turkmen specialists, who will undergo theoretical and practical training for 12 days under the best ITF experts.
