The good news from the Sofia European Open in Bulgaria demonstrates that the Turkmen athletes are confidently making a path to the 2024 Summer Olympics to be held in Paris.
Hekim Agamammedov, a representative of the national judo team of Turkmenistan, competed in the 66-kilogramme weight class event and won a bronze medal at the tournament.
Our compatriot defeated Charlie Yang (Great Britain) in the bronze medal decider. Thus, the confident performance of the Turkmen athlete brought him the points for the Olympic qualification.
Nikita Holoborodko (Ukraine) won the first place in this weight class event. Gumar Kyrgyzbayev (Kazakhstan) became the runner-up, while Artyom Galachyan (Armenia) earned another bronze medal.
To date, the Turkmen judokas compete in the Tel Aviv Grand Slam in Israel. We wish our compatriots success at the tournament.
