Sports competitions, dedicated to the International Day of Neutrality were held

From November 30 to December 8, 2019, Ashgabat hosted sports competitions in badminton, chess and futsal, dedicated to the International Day of Neutrality, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.

According to the results of the chess tournament held on November 30 at the Ashgabat Specialized Chess School, representatives of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan won 1st and 2nd places, and employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country won third place.

In badminton competitions held on the same day in the sports complex of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, diplomats from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan won the first place, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China took second place and the Embassy of the Russian Federation took the third place.

All athletes who won prizes were awarded with diplomas of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Policy of Turkmenistan and medals and souvenirs from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The competition cycle completed the futsal tournament held at the Galkynysh fitness and health complex on December 7-8. As a result of a stubborn struggle, the team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan won the first place, the team of the Embassy of the United States of America won the second place and the combined team of the embassies of the Russian Federation, Armenia and Malaysia took third place.

The winning team of the futsal tournament was awarded the transitional cup and medals, and the teams that won second and third places were awarded medals and diplomas of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Policy of Turkmenistan. Special prizes were also awarded to the «best forward» and «the best goalkeeper».

«A friendly match of ambassadors» was organized as part of the futsal tournament. It was attended by ambassadors accredited in Turkmenistan, ambassadors of Turkmenistan working abroad, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The match was held in a friendly and festive atmosphere, however, despite this, competitiveness; perseverance and the desire for victory were felt.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan expresses its gratitude to the Ministry of Sport and Youth Policy of Turkmenistan, the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia and other organizations for their assistance in the successful conduct of these competitions.
