The weightlifting tournament, which was held in memory of the three-time Olympic champion Naim Suleimanoglu, finished in the Turkish city of Gaziantep. The Turkmenistan team performed fascinatingly at the tournament and won  several medals.

This prestigious competition is the qualifying tournament of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. The national team thoroughly prepared for the tournament. Its result exceeded expectations, our athletes Kristina Shermetova, Seyitjan Mirzaev and Gulnabat Kadyrova stood the podium on the very first days of the tournament.

On the final days of the tournament, Aysoltan Toycheva, a coach from sport school 5 of the Mary Velayat Main Department of Sports and Youth Policy, who performed in the under 87 kg weight category, lifted 116 kg in the clean and jerk event and won a silver medal.

Hojamuhammet Toychiev, a coach from sport school 7 of the Mary Velayat Main Department of Sports and Youth Policy, who performed in the under 109 kg weight category, won a bronze medal in two events. He lifted 176 kg in the snatch event and 227 kg in the clean and jerk event.

The athletes of the Olympic team of Turkmenistan continue to diligently prepare for the major sporting event of the planet, which will take place in Tokyo in 2020.
