Package of Turkmenistan-Japan documents is signed in the capital of the 2020 Summer Olympic Games

On October 23, 2019, in Tokyo, as part of a working visit of the government delegation of Turkmenistan headed by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Japan, a ceremony of signing bilateral documents was held, reinforcing the desire of the parties to intensify multi-format interaction.

Among them: General agreement between the State Committee for Water Resources of Turkmenistan and the company Itochu Corporation (Japan) on the sale of earth moving equipment; General agreement between the agency Türkmenawtoulaglary of the Ministry of Industry and Communication of Turkmenistan and Sumitomo Corporation (Japan) on cooperation in the field of procurement of vehicles; Memorandum of Understanding between the Türkmengaz State Concern and the Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. group of companies (Japan) and the Sojitz Corporation (Japan) on the basis of the results obtained and the construction of the second complex of the current gasoline production plant through refining gas; Supplement No. 2 to the Framework Agreement between the Türkmenhimiýa State Concern and the Mitsubishi Corporation group of companies (Japan) and Gap Inşaat Ýatirim ve Diş Ticaret Anonim Şirketi (Turkey) on cooperation in developing a project for the construction of a new ammonia and urea plant in Turkmenistan; Agreement between the State Concern Türkmenhimiýa and a consortium of Sojitz Corporation, TTCL Public Company Limited, Rönesans Endüstri Tesisleri Inşaat Sanaýi ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi on a contractual basis for the design and construction at the Turkmenabat chemical plant of a workshop for the production of concentrated phosphorus fertilizers with full readiness.

The prospects of the Turkmen-Japanese partnership in various fields were put on the agenda of the bilateral meeting held today at the Japanese Foreign Ministry.

The Memorandum between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan on cooperation in the field of infrastructure (with a road map) and the Updated and re-signed Agreement No. 4 on cooperation between the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation signed in its framework replenished the normative-legal basis of bilateral interaction.

In general, the meetings held in Tokyo and the joint business forum confirmed the desire of large Japanese business to build productive ties with Turkmenistan, which testifies to the high international prestige of our country and its growing attractiveness for mutually beneficial investment and business partnerships in general.

At the end of the working visit program, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proceeded to Tokyo-Haneda International Airport, from where he left for his homeland.
