At the recent meeting of the International Skating Union (ISU) in Lausanne, Switzerland, membership of this organisation was granted to the Winter Sports Centre of Turkmenistan. Congratulating all fans of this sport in Turkmenistan on the good news, we would like to note that membership of the International Skating Union enables figure skaters from Turkmenistan to perform in qualification events of the major sports tournaments, including the Winter Olympic Games.
According to representatives of the Winter Sports Centre of Turkmenistan, the ISU management highly evaluates the goal-driven and consistent development of winter sports in our country as well as the creation of conditions conducive to practising these sports.

There are the National Olympic Ice Palace in Ashgabat; the ice arena of Galkan HC of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan is never empty.
The construction and putting into operation of the Winter Sports Complex in the Avaza national tourism zone has allowed promoting winter sports in the regions in the country.
Emphasis should be placed on the fact that the ISU commends the joint work conducted by the Winter Sports Centre and the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan to promote the sports movement; sports tournaments, which allow athletes to hone skills and gain experience, are held under their auspices at the state level in our sunny country on a regular basis.
