The national team of Turkmenistan has won six medals at the VI World Nomad Games currently taking place in Kyrgyzstan. Turkmen athletes have claimed two gold, three silver and one bronze medal.
The gold medals were won by Annagurban Allaberdiev in the traditional Turkmen wrestling discipline Gorash, in the over-100 kg weight category, and Nurmuhammed Baidoglyyev in Alysh belt wrestling (freestyle), also in the over-100 kg category.
Three more silver medals were won in Alysh belt wrestling by Mekan Nurberdiyev (classical style, up to 80 kg), Abdyresul Durdyyev (freestyle, up to 60 kg), and Silapberdi Nuriyev (freestyle, up to 80 kg).
Kemal Kemalov won the bronze medal in Uzbek wrestling (Kurash) in the over-100 kg weight category.
The VI World Nomad Games are being held from 31 August to 6 September in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan. Representatives of more than 100 countries are taking part in the competitions across 43 ethno-sports disciplines.
