Asian Mix is a winner of Ashgabat Petanque Cup

Winner of Ashgabat petanque tournament «5th Ashgabat Tissot Open 2019» have been decided. The competitions were held on 14 specialized fields of Bouygues Turkmen. National Petanque Federation, which was founded this year, was the host of the tournament under sponsorship of famous manufacturer of Swiss watches Tissot. Local companies Biyat, Arassa Deniz, Dogrulyk have also participated as sponsors.
Current tournament was the most representative for the history of this sort competitions in Ashgabat. Around 100 sportsmen, professionals and amateurs, divided into 30 men, women and mixed teams, from which 11 teams are permanent members of National Federation, took part in the competitions dedicated to the 28th anniversary of Independence of Turkmenistan. Four children team also competed separately.
Turkmen sportsmen, foreign diplomats, representatives of local and foreign companies, students of capital universities demonstrated their skills in petanque.
The tournament has started from qualification and group rounds, which qualified 8 teams – the participants of Grand Prix and Club B finals. The title of the winner was contested between Asia Mix and Mages teams, which demonstrated skilful tactics, accuracy, focus and, which is more important, a team spirit. In the result, Asia Mix (Zinoviy Arshavsky, Begench Ballieyv, Kemal Mehtiyev) was a winner of Ashgabat Open Cup, having taken over 13:11 against Mages (Alexander Novokshyonov, Gaygysyz Orazgulyev, Merdan Byashimov). The Legion (Suleyman Atayev, Egor Kiforenko, Azat Akmammedov) are on the third place.
Bouygues’s Gladiateur (Nicholas Dufau, Johann Bourgeous, Michel Bourdanove) was a winner in Club B category. Oleg Osadchiy and Aziza Arshavskaya were received the prize as the best players of the tournament among men and women respectively by the results of elections among the captains. Azat Akmammedov was elected as the best debutant.
Turkmen petanque players plan to expand their participation in local championships as well as in the tournaments held under the aegis of the Word Petanque Federation (FIPJP).
Secretary General of National Petanque Federation Batry Kadyrov spoke of the future plans. Turkmenistan men and women national teams will be formed up by the results of Ashgabat Open Cup. The first performance of women’s team will be held at the World Championship, which will be held in Phnom Penh (Cambodia).
Men’s team will represent Turkmenistan at the Asian Championship in December, which will be qualification tournament for the World Championship 2020. Building of additional fields for training of national teams will be finished soon and children petanque training section will be opened.
