The 2019 World Boxing Championships were held in Yekaterinburg, Russia. The Turkmen boxers performed at the boxing tournament.
Turkmenistan was represented by five athletes at the World Boxing Championships in Yekaterinburg.
Nuryagdy Nuryagdyev (under 81-kg weight category), who won his first fight 3:2 against Jack Bowen (Australia), showed the best results among our compatriots.
However, he lost to 22-year-old Benjamin Whittaker (Great Britain) in the 1/8 finals.
It was the first that the Turkmen boxers have prepared for the world championships under the supervision of a renowned Ukrainian coach Vladimir Dvortsov.
