International Cycling Training Camp

A joint international training camp involving the Turkmenistan national cycling team and representatives of the Abu Dhabi Cycling Club (United Arab Emirates) has begun in the capital of Turkmenistan. The camp will run until 20 August and is aimed not only at enhancing the athletes' physical preparation, but also at promoting the exchange of coaching experience, introducing modern training methods, and strengthening long-term sports cooperation between the two countries.

The Abu Dhabi delegation includes the club's director, two coaches, a bicycle mechanic, and 24 cyclists. The visitors are staying at the Türkmenistanyň Türgenler Hotel. Training sessions will take place along Atatürk and Köpetdag streets, Archabil Avenue, the Gökdere Gorge, and at the indoor velodrome of the Ashgabat Olympic Complex.

The Turkmenistan national team is represented by 15 cyclists training under the guidance of head coach Kakabay Atayev and assistant coach Igor Yuldashev.

During the training camp, the athletes are expected to cover approximately 1,270 kilometres in Ashgabat. The programme also includes six practical training sessions and three educational seminars.

Similar joint training camps were successfully held from 2023 to 2025. During those years, Turkmen cyclists also competed in international competitions hosted in Abu Dhabi.

Following the conclusion of the training camp, the Turkmenistan national cycling team will compete in the Asian Cup, scheduled for 28–30 August in Thailand. The team will then participate in the Asian Games in Japan, to be held from 29 September to 2 October.
