The Turkmenistan Tennis Championship, which started in the capital, has brought together 125 athletes from Ashgabat, as well as the Dashoguz, Lebap and Mary regions of the country, The Turkmenistan: Golden age electronic newspaper reports.
The competition, featuring 70 boys and 54 girls over the age of 13, is being held on the courts of the multifunctional Ashgabat stadium.
The winners of the championship, officiated by 44-year-old national-category referee Igor Zubkov as chief judge, will be determined in both singles and doubles events.
The Turkmenistan Championship is considered the country’s main national tournament, based on the results of which the composition of the national team will be determined.
The competition will conclude on May 17.
