Turkmen weightlifters claimed 21 medals of various ranks at international competitions held in Doha, the capital of Qatar. The event combined three prestigious tournaments – the 10th Qatar International Cup, the Arab Countries Championship for youth, juniors and adults, and the West Asia Championship. About 240 athletes from 28 countries participated. Our compatriots won 7 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze medals.

Ogulshat Amanova, competing in the 53 kg weight category, won three bronze medals in the snatch (77 kg), clean and jerk (93 kg) and total (170 kg). In the 71 kg category Bunyad Rashidov earned two gold medals in the snatch (145 kg) and total (314 kg), along with a silver medal in the clean and jerk (169 kg). Zibagul Soymushova, in the 58 kg category, took bronze in the snatch (78 kg). Gaygysyz Toraev, competing in the 79 kg category, received a silver medal in the clean and jerk (190 kg) and bronze in the total (330 kg).

Medine Amanova, in the 63 kg category, claimed three silver medals in the snatch (91 kg), clean and jerk (111 kg) and total (202 kg).

Rustem Annaberdiev, in the 94 kg category, won silver medals in the snatch (151 kg) and total (330 kg). Resul Rejepov, competing in the same category, took bronze in the snatch (151 kg). In the 86 kg category Anamjan Rustamova won three gold medals in the snatch (105 kg), clean and jerk (135 kg) and total (240 kg). Davranbek Hasanbayev, in the 110 kg category, earned gold in the snatch (180 kg), bronze in the clean and jerk (200 kg) and gold in the total (380 kg).
