Today sports schools of Turkmenistan carry out comprehensive work to prepare athletes who, thanks to the excellent conditions created, have ample opportunities to engage in various sports.

To further develop and promote physical education and sports among the general population and educate young people in the spirit of patriotism various competitions are regularly held in modern sports schools of the capital and regions. On December 7-8, the Ashgabat Open Championship in volleyball among young men born in 2007 and younger was held. The competition was held in the Gokje Sports Complex of the Main Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Ashgabat. The winner of the championship was the Edigen-1 team. The second place was taken by the Edigen-2 team and the third place by the Dovletliler team.
