Turkmen athletes won 45 medals of various denominations at the Chemnitz Open 2024 Karatedo Tournament that ended in Chemnitz, Germany, the Golden age electronic newspaper reports.
The competition brought together 953 athletes from 5 countries, who competed for the title of the strongest in the disciplines of kata (demonstration of formal exercises) and kumite (fights) in different age categories.
The Turkmenistan team included 18 athletes, 7 judges and 2 coaches.
Based on the results of all types of the program, our compatriots have 21 gold, 12 silver and 12 bronze medals. With these results the Turkmen karatekas took second place in the medal count, losing to the representatives of Germany (97 gold, 102 silver and 190 bronze awards). Behind our team were rivals from Poland (1 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze), Czech Republic (1 silver and 1 bronze) and Nepal (2 bronze).
