Success in Kazan

The World Belt Wrestling Championship among adults and youth under 20 years old ended with great success for the Turkmenistan team in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan. More than 250 athletes from 34 countries competed for prizes.

At the World Championship among adults the Turkmen team won 3 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze medals.

The highest awards were awarded in freestyle belt wrestling to servicemen of the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan Abdyresul Durdyyev (62 kg), Palvan Gurbangeldiyev (100 kg), as well as a 3rd-year student of the Turkmen State Institute of Finance Annagurban Allaberdiyev (90 kg).

A 5th-year student of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports Nurmuhammet Baydogdyyev (over 100 kg) climbed to the second step of the podium in the classical belt wrestling.

Bronze medals were won by Ashirmyrat Amandurdyyev (freestyle, 57 kg), Kemal Nurgeldiyev (freestyle, 68 kg), Davut Nazarov (classical style, over 100 kg), servicemen of the Ministry of Defense and Internal Affairs Nobatgeldi Nazarov (freestyle, 100 kg) and Azymmuhammet Orazmuhammedov (freestyle, 75 kg).

At the World Youth Championship among athletes aged 18-20 Turkmen belt wrestling masters won 3 gold and 1 bronze medal. Students of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports Guvanch Hemrayev (82 kg) and Davut Nazarov (over 100 kg) and a student of the Turkmen State Institute of Finance Annagurban Allaberdiyev (90 kg) climbed to the top step of the podium. Third place was taken by a student of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports Kemal Nurgeldiyev (68 kg).
