Athletes from Turkmenistan won three bronze medals at the 22nd Asian Karate Cadet Junior & U21 Championship 2024 in the Manila, Philippines.
The competitions held by the Asian Karate Federation WKF brought together 561 athletes from 30 countries.
The Turkmenistan team at the Asian Championship was represented by 10 athletes, 2 coaches and 3 international judges.
The first bronze medal in Turkmen team was won in kumite among cadets in the weight category 57 kg by a 9th-grade student of Ashgabat Secondary Specialized School No. 61 Alymuhammet Kakalyyev.
This is not the first success this year for the talented karateka at competitions abroad. In February Alymuhammet won bronze at the international tournament Youth Karate League 1 in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates. In May at the 9th Central Asian WKF Karate Championship in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, he climbed to the top step of the podium, and then at another international tournament Youth Karate League 1 in La Coruña, Spain, he was awarded a bronze medal.
On the final day of the competition the Turkmenistan team's collection was replenished with two more bronze medals. They were won by athlete of the Karatedo Federation of Turkmenistan Magtymguly Annayev (55 kg) and 4th-year student of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Davut Nazmyradov (75 kg). Both achieved success in kumite in the age category up to 21 years.
Magtymguly Annayev began to study karate with the coach of the sports school of the Ak Bugday district of the Main Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Ahal region Amangeldi Byashimov, and Davut Nazmyradov with the coach of the 1st sports school of Balkanabat of the Balkan region Nazmammet Shatlykgulyev. Currently both athletes are improving their skills in the national team of Turkmenistan under the guidance of the head coach, holder of the black belt of the 5th dan Aydyn Charyyev.
