Turkmen athletes successfully performed at the international youth boxing tournament held in Aktau, Kazakhstan, from August 6 to 10. Athletes from Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the Republic of Karakalpakstan and various cities of Kazakhstan took part in the competition dedicated to the memory of Bokenbay Saktaganov.
Nine Turkmen athletes in different weight categories entered the ring. They were prepared for the competition by the head coach of the national boxing team Tenilbek Dzhumakulov, senior coach of the youth team Maksud Sheripov. The referee corps of Turkmenistan at the tournament was represented by judge Timur Halilov. Turkmen boxers completed the competition with six medals (1 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze).
Jeyhun Dovranov, a student of the 1st secondary school of Yolotan district Mary region, won a gold medal in the weight category 54 kg. Meylis Shadurdyev, a student of the 32nd secondary school of Ashgabat, won a silver medal in the weight category 57 kg. A student of the 52nd secondary school of Ashgabat city Hangeldi Lukmanov (48 kg), a student of the 82nd secondary school of Ashgabat Mekan Sabyrov (60 kg), a student of the 2nd secondary school of Gushly village Bayramaly district Mary region Annageldi Jumamuradov (63.5 kg) and a student of the 57th secondary school of Boldumsaz district Dashoguz region Atageldi Seyidov (67 kg) won bronze medals.
In addition, gold medalist in the Turkmen team Jeyhun Dovranov was recognized as the most technical boxer of the tournament.
