Ashgabat athlete Alymuhammet Kakalyyev won a bronze medal at the international tournament of the 2024 Karate 1 Youth League in A Coruña, Spain. The 8th grade student of the capital's secondary school No 61 achieved this success in kumite (combat) among boys U14 in the weight category up to 55 kg.

In the competition, held under the auspices of the World Karate Federation (WKF), 3035 athletes from 70 countries participated, who fought not only for medals in age categories from 12 to 20 years old, but also for ranking points to participate in the IV Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2026 in Dakar, Senegal.
