Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports, Head of the Kurash Federation of Turkmenistan Serdar Ataev headed the Statistics Committee of the International Kurash Association (IKA). 53 delegates of the IKA Congress, which was held in the conference hall of the Sport Hotel in the Olympic Town, unanimously supported his candidacy.
After the Kurash Federation of Turkmenistan has joined the International Association (IKA) and the Kurash Confederation of Asia and Oceania in 2015, Turkmen masters of this style of wrestling began to perform at world championships and other major international competitions. Before the current World Championships in Ashgabat, our compatriots participated in four World Kurash Championships in Iran, Turkey, the Republic of Korea and India, where they stood on the podium 21 times, having won 2 gold, 7 silver and 12 bronze medals.
