The XXXI World Summer University Games that took place in Chengdu, China from July 28 to August 8 have become part of history.
The Turkmen athletes performed in the athletics, wushu, swimming and judo events. The Turkmenistan Wushu champion, a student from Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports Aygozel Gurbangeldiyeva won a bronze medal in the under 52 kg weight category.
The absolute medal tally leader is the China team – the host of the Games with 178 medals (103 gold, 40 silver and 35 bronze). Japan stands on the second line of the medal table with 93 medals (21-29-43), and South Korea rounded out the top three with 58 medals (17-18-23).
6,500 student-athletes from 113 countries competed for 269 sets of medals in 18 sports at the World Summer University Games in Chengdu.
