A meeting related to the implementation of the ‘Action Plan of UNFPA and UNDP in Turkmenistan’ has been successfully held in the city of Turkmenabat, Lebap Velayat.

The awards ceremony for the winners of the basketball tournament ‘Kümüş halka’ (from Turkmen ‘a silver basket’) was organized within the framework of the plan. The representatives of the State Committee on Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan, the UN Resident Coordinator Office in Turkmenistan, relevant institutions and departments of Lebap Velayat, as well as citizens and sports fans of the country attended the awards ceremony.

The winners of the tournament became known on the third day of the competition. The first, second and third teams of Turkmenabat formed the top three in the women's event. The Farap team (Charjev Etrap) triumphed in the men's event. The first and second teams of Turkmenabat won the second and third places respectively.

The above-mentioned teams received gifts and letters of honour from the State Committee on Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Agencies in Turkmenistan.

The participants expressed their sincere gratitude to our Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who greatly contribute to the development of sports at the international and national levels, and to the success of sports diplomacy in the international relations.
