Turkmen weightlifters ranks fifth in World Youth Championships medal standings

The Turkmenistan weightlifting team completed its performance at the Youth World Weightlifting Championships in Durres (Albania) in fifth place in the team medal standings. The Turkmen athletes won two gold and one silver medals in the double-event.

13-year-old Ogulshat Amanova (under 71 kg) and 17-year-old Medine Amanova (under 59 kg) stood on the highest step of the podium. 16-year-old Perhat Bagtiyarov (under 61 kg) won a silver medal.

The winners of the World Championships in Albania are the athletes from Turkey (6 medals), and the athletes from the Philippines (5 medals) ranked second. Georgia and Kazakhstan (4 medals each) shared third place.

268 athletes from 57 countries performed at the Youth World Weightlifting Championships. The competition started on March 25 and ended on April 1. The competition is an annual event held under the auspices of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).

The Turkmenistan team led by Gurbandurdy Amanov and Ahmed Sariyev at the Youth World Weightlifting Championships in Albania consisted of 9 weightlifters.
