The Turkmen athletes have achieved impressive success at the IWF World Youth Championships in Durres, the Republic of Albania.
Ogulshat Amanova, a member of the women's youth weightlifting team of Turkmenistan, an 8-grader at the Ashgabat secondary school 104, competed in the 45-kilogramme weight class event. Our compatriot triumphed in the competition with the opponents from Turkey, Japan, Colombia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Ecuador, the Philippines, Ukraine, Malta, and Spain. She won a silver medal in the snatch event and a gold medal in the clean and jerk event with the results of 71 and 85 kilogrammes respectively. 156 kilogrammes in total brought her another gold medal. Thus, our compatriot became the youth world champion.
Perhat Bagtyyarov, a member of the men's youth weightlifting team of Turkmenistan, a 10-grader at the Olimp secondary sports school, competed in the 61-kilogramme weight class event. He was close to the championship in the competition with the strongest athletes from Uzbekistan, Armenia, Italy, Vietnam, Indonesia, Moldova, the Philippines and Thailand. The talented athlete won a gold medal in the snatch event and a silver medal in the clean and jerk event with the results of 114 and 144 kilogrammes respectively. With a weight of 258 kilogrammes in total, Perhat earned another silver medal.
