04.12.2022. Snow has fallen in Ashgabat on the eve of the glorious date – the 27th anniversary of the status of neutrality of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen people have many proverbs and sayings about snowfall and the coming of winter. For example, the saying “Ak zat alnyňa ýagşy” is common. In other words, white color is a harbinger of bright, joyful events in life.
Winter in our country is some kind of special natural phenomenon that children are waiting for more than anything else. For them, the coming of winter is the expectation of snow, when they go out into the yard, make a snowman and play snowballs.
To the great regret of our children, the Turkmen winter is mild and short-lived; it stopped snowing soon. Even this short-lived snow gave adults and children the feeling of the coming of the New Year in our homes, hurrying to us with New Year’s gifts from Ayazbaba.
