On September 17, the ceremony of presenting awards to the Turkmen athletes – the winners of international competitions took place at the Martial Arts Complex in the Ashgabat Olympic Town. The achievements of the Turkmen athletes in international competitions are a worthy gift for the 31st anniversary of sacred independence.
The athletes who upheld the honour of Turkmen sports received memorable gifts on behalf of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Supporting Children in Need of Protection.
The Turkmen athletes successfully performed at the international tournaments – the European Open Judo Championship in Oberwart, Austria, the International Karate do Tournament in Berlin, Germany, the World Shotokan Karate Championships in Pardubice, Czech Republic and the Founders of Sambo Cup in Moscow, Russia.
26 athletes, who showed excellent results at the international sporting events in karate do, shotokan karate, judo and sambo, won gold medals. 8 wrestlers returned home with silver medals. 4 athletes won bronze medals.
The unceasing concern of the President for young citizens of the country and state support for the sport sector inspire Turkmen athletes to new victories.
