The Asian Football Confederation has published the calendar of matches for the final tournament of the 5th Youth (U-23) Asian Cup-2022, which will be held from June 1 to June 19, 2022 in Uzbekistan with the participation of 16 teams.
According to the draw held yesterday at the AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, the national team of Turkmenistan will play in group A with the teams of Uzbekistan, Iran and Qatar.
The Turkmen team will play their first match on June 1 against the hosts of the tournament - Uzbekistan. The game will take place in Tashkent at the Pakhtakor stadium, starting at 20:00 Ashgabat time.
The youth team of Uzbekistan has regularly participated in all Asian Championships (U-23), starting from the first tournament in 2013. She achieved the highest result in it in 2018, becoming the champion of Asia for the first time. Then in the final in extra time the Vietnamese team was beaten - 2:1.
In the second round, the "youth team" of Turkmenistan on June 4 at the stadium "Bunyodkor" in Tashkent will meet with the team of Iran. The game will start at 18:00 Ashgabat time. And our team will finish the group tournament on June 7 with a match against the national team of Qatar, which will be held at the Bunyodkor stadium. The starting whistle in this game will sound at 20:00 Ashgabat time.
The top two teams from the group will advance to the quarterfinals. In case of reaching the 1/4 finals, the national team of Turkmenistan will play with one of the teams of group "B" - Australia, Jordan, Iraq or Kuwait.
The 42-year-old well-known football specialist Ahmed Agamuradov will prepare the national team of Turkmenistan for the debut in the final stage of the Asian Youth Cup, under whose leadership the team successfully overcame the qualification barrier of the competition in Amman. Recall that in the first match of the qualifying tournament, Turkmen football players lost to their peers from Jordan - 0:1, and in the second they beat the representatives of Palestine - 3:1 and eventually entered the top four teams among those who took second places in the groups.
The final tournament of the Youth Asian Cup 2022 in Tashkent is also a qualifying tournament. According to its results, the top three teams will receive the right to represent Asia at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
