President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will attend the opening ceremony of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games to be held on February 4 in Beijing. The head of Turkmenistan informed about this in an interview with representatives of a number of TV channels and authoritative publications of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China. Ms. Yu Xiaoshuang, press attache of the Embassy of the PRC in Turkmenistan, took part in a conversation with the leader of the nation in the «question-answer» format.
«Regarding my decision to participate in the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics, then it is productive primarily by the understanding of the huge importance of this event for the entire planet,» President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov declared.
The head of Turkmenistan noted that the Olympic Games have always personified peace and friendship between peoples, the cessation of hostility and wars, the unity of people of different nationalities, political beliefs, their commitment to the high ideals of the Olympic movement, designed to promote mutual understanding, openness and sympathy between peoples and states.
«As the President of Turkmenistan, a country committed to exactly these principles in its internal and external policy, I gratefully accepted the proposal of the respected Chairman of the People's Republic of China,» – the leader of the nation emphasized.
Speaking about his expectations from the upcoming Winter Olympic Games, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that they «will be held at the highest organizational and sports level, in an atmosphere of fair competition, respect for the participants to each other, with great spectator interest.»
«We closely followed the preparation of China for the Olympics, saw how much has been done, what magnificent facilities have been built, what innovative and high-tech solutions have been implemented and used,» the Turkmen leader said.
Noting, that the PRC has once again shown that able to successfully solve the most ambitious tasks, the President of Turkmenistan once again expressed confidence in the success of the main winter complex competitions of the four years.
«I am convinced that the upcoming Olympics will bring many outstanding results, will become a bright event in the history of world sports, a real holiday for millions of people in various parts of the Earth,» – President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized.
Recall that the XXIV Winter Olympic Games, in which 109 sets of awards in 7 sports (15 disciplines) will be played, will be held from February 4 to 20, 2022.
