To date, the national sports take confident steps towards huge success at the Olympic Games thanks to comprehensive concern of the President of Turkmenistan. This process is reflected in high level preparation for the 2020 Summer Olympics and Paralympics in Tokyo. The training sessions in the centres, where perfect conditions are created for all-round preparation, allow carrying out an important part of work in this area. Joint efforts are made to increase the quality level of the training sessions. Obviously, the intensive trainings in the city of Tendo (Japan) are an important stage of all preparation. Sports cooperation with Tendo, which is located in 392 kilometres from Tokyo – the venue of the Olympic Games, benefits overall relations between two countries.
It should be noted that this effective cooperation sprang up at the Ashgabat Asian Games, which enraptured the audience all over the world. At that time, Endo Toshiaki, the head of Parliamentary Association of Japanese-Turkmen Friendship, the Vice President of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, visited our country. At the meeting with the Turkmen side, important documents on cooperation were signed. At that time, the State Committee for Sports of Turkmenistan and the Japanese city administration signed the Agreement on opening of training centre for athletes from Turkmenistan to prepare for the Olympic and Para-Olympic Games. According to the document, the Turkmen athletes will hold the training sessions on the sporting facilities and will camp in Tendo during the Games.
Thus, within the preparation for the XXXII Summer Olympic Games, acquaintance with the sporting venues and discussion of bilateral cooperation, delegation of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy of Turkmenistan and the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan paid a working visit to this city on June 24 – 30, 2018, and on March 26 – on April 1, 2019. Within the visit, important agreements were reached with Yamamoto Shinji, the Mayor of Tendo. According to the Agreement, the Turkmen delegation will undergo acclimatization before the Olympic Games in Tokyo, will hold the regular intensive training sessions with the Japanese trainers and athletes on sporting venues of the Japanese city and will work on physical, technical and tactical preparedness of members of the national team starting from July, 2019. These training sessions will be supervised by the experienced Japanese physicians and psychologists, the world-known experts in sports sciences.
To date, the reached agreements resulted in the training sessions in the judo and track and field athletics for the teams consisting of 14 people in the abovementioned city. Our athletes and trainers have participated in the training sessions, which took place on July 7 – 18. It should be noted that the Olympic Games in Tokyo will be held in July – August next year that is why the joint training sessions took place at the same period this year. It will have a positive effect on good health of the Turkmen athletes and their accustoming to the local climate, food and other conditions. In view of summer conditions in Japan and the plan of preparation together with the well-known Japanese experts, our athletes held 2 – 3 training sessions a day that will keep them in good shape. The Japanese and Turkmen judoists took part in regular sparrings to increase the skills and to gather experience. Besides, according to the recommendations of the Japanese sports physicians, careful work is carried out on studying of physical state of athletes in order to fix the number of intensive training session per a day, to develop and recover their muscular systems after physical activities. Within this work, the Japanese experts developed recommendations about healthy nutrition and the products used according to the last discoveries in dietetics.
Exchange of experience and bilateral cooperation between the Judo and Track and Field Athletics Federations of Turkmenistan and Japan emphasize importance of the training sessions. It became a great result of efforts of the President of Turkmenistan on learning from the best international experience. That is why we express sincere gratitude to the Turkmen leader for developing the national sports at the qualitatively new level and strengthening the international cooperation in this sphere.
