The closing ceremony of the XXXII Summer Olympic Games took place in Tokyo. The event took place at the National Stadium in the capital of Japan.

At the ceremony, the Olympic flag was handed over to the host of the next Summer Olympic Games – France that will host the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike handed over the flag to Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo.

For the first time in history, the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games included a live broadcast of the handover celebration from the city that will host the next Games.

The XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
