The second World Championship in the traditional Tajik wrestling style of Gushtingiri has concluded in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, bringing together representatives from dozens of countries. The major tournament was one of the largest international competitions in this martial art.
Turkmenistan national team athlete Sabina Kadyrova, a third-year student at the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, performed successfully at the World Championship. Competing in the +78 kg weight category, the Turkmen athlete won a bronze medal. This award was a worthy result of Sabina Kadyrova’s performance at a world-level competition.
Gushtingiri is a traditional form of wrestling of the Tajik people that has gained broad international development in recent years. The first World Championship in this sport was held in Dushanbe in 2024, while the current event became the second edition of the world championship.
