Turkmen weightlifter Anamjan Rustamova has won the gold medal at the Junior World Weightlifting Championships in the 86 kg weight category. The competition is being held in Egypt.
Rustamova recorded 110 kg in the snatch and 147 kg in the clean and jerk, achieving a total of 257 kg. She also earned a small gold medal in the clean and jerk event. In the final standings, the Turkmen athlete surpassed China’s Linyue Xu (256 kg) and Armenia’s Emma Poghosyan (253 kg), who finished in second and third place respectively.
This is the second medal for Turkmenistan’s national team at the current World Championships. Earlier, Didarbek Jumabayev won a bronze medal in the 79 kg category. He lifted 148 kg in the snatch and 187 kg in the clean and jerk, for a total of 335 kg. The gold medal in this category was claimed by Egypt’s Abdulrahman Hamouda (341 kg), while Armenia’s Narek Mkrtchyan took silver with 336 kg.
