Turkmen wrestler Alp Arslan Begendzhov won a bronze medal at the Asian Freestyle Wrestling Championship among seniors, held from April 6 to 12 in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan). The athlete competed in the 86 kg weight category.
In the qualification round, Begendzhov defeated Mongolian wrestler Byambadorj Bat-Erdene with a score of 10:0 by technical superiority. In the quarterfinals, the Turkmen athlete also confidently beat Tajikistan’s representative Bakhodur Kodirov — 10:0.
In the semifinals, Begendzhov lost to Iranian wrestler Kamran Ghorban Ghasempour and moved on to the bronze medal match.
In the bout for third place, the Turkmen athlete faced Japan’s Yudai Takahashi and secured a victory with a score of 10:5, earning a medal at the continental championship.
The gold medal of the tournament went to Kamran Ghorban Ghasempour, who defeated India’s Mukul Dahiya in the final with a score of 7:0.
