The Sambo and Combat Sambo World Cup is ongoing in Yerevan (Armenia). In the competition, which has brought together around 300 athletes from 21 countries, Turkmen sambo athletes won 2 silver and 1 bronze medal on the first day.

In the 50 kg weight category, second-year student of the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute, Kurbanay Kurbanova, took second place in combat sambo.

Zyba Orunova, a coach-teacher at Sports School No. 4 of the Chardjew district under the Main Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Lebap velayat, won a silver medal in combat sambo in the 65 kg weight category.

Serviceman Atanyaz Amangeldiyev won a bronze medal in sambo in the 88 kg weight category.

The World Cup will conclude on April 12, 2026.
