FC Arkadag wins the Turkmenistan Football Federation Cup

The first trophy of 2026—the Turkmenistan Football Federation Cup—was won by FC Arkadag. The team coached by Vladimir Bayramov achieved this success by defeating Shagadam from Turkmenbashi 2–0 in the final, The Golden age electronic newspaper reports.

The match took place at the central arena of the Ashgabat Multifunctional Stadium.

The scoring was opened as early as the 3rd minute by 25-year-old newcomer Meylis Diniyev, who last season played for FC Kyrgyzaltyn from Kara-Balta, Kyrgyzstan. The victory of the reigning three-time champions of Turkmenistan was sealed in the 61st minute by the top scorer of the last four national championships, Didar Durdyyev.

FC Arkadag won the Turkmenistan Football Federation Cup for the second consecutive year. Last year the club captured this fourth-most significant national trophy for the first time, winning the tournament – played in a single round – in Babarap village of the Gokdepe district with the participation of six top-league clubs.

The bronze medalist of the Turkmenistan Football Federation Cup 2026 was Ahal FC, which defeated FC Ashgabat 2–0 in the match for third place.

Eight teams competed for the Turkmenistan Football Federation Cup 2026. At the first stage they were divided into two groups. In Group A, the clubs Kopetdag, Ahal, Shagadam and Nebitchi competed for two semifinal spots. In Group B the contenders were FC Arkadag, Ashgabat, Merv and the Turkmenistan U20 youth national football team.

In the semifinals, FC Arkadag defeated Ahal FC  2–1, while FC Shagadam overcame FC Ashgabat 1–0 to reach the final.

Fifth place in the tournament went to the Turkmenistan U20, which defeated the capital’s Kopetdag in a penalty shootout after a 2–2 draw (5–3 on penalties).

In the match for seventh place, Balkanabat’s Nebitchi defeated Mary’s Merv 3–1.
