Turkmen players improved their ratings at the Russian chess crown festival

Turkmen athletes have achieved a significant rating increase following the results of the Russian chess crown international chess festival in Krasnogorsk, Moscow region, with a prize fund of 7.5 million rubles, The Golden age electronic newspaper reports.

More than 500 chess players and distinguished guests took part in the representative competition, representing 20 countries, including many CIS countries, as well as Argentina, Egypt, India, Zimbabwe, Cuba, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mali, Myanmar, Thailand and the Philippines. The participation of the Turkmen delegation was made possible by a special invitation from the Moscow region Chess federation.

Classical chess competitions were held according to the Swiss system in 10 rounds with a time control of 90 minutes plus 30 seconds for each move.

More than 100 holders of international FIDE titles took part in the main A tournament, including the reigning Russian champion Arseniy Nesterov, the youngest ever international master, 11-year-old Roman Shogdzhiev and other famous chess players.

The successful performance of the Turkmen chess players, who demonstrated significant progress and a high level of training, attracted special attention at the tournament. The female candidate for the FIDE master, Leyla Shohradova (rating 2183), took 5th place among women in the A tournament, stopping just half a point away from fulfilling the norm of the international master. This result became one of the most notable achievements of the Turkmen delegation and confirmed its ambitions in the international arena.

Mahri Agamuradova (ranked 1926), who took first place in classical chess among women, showed high performance in the D tournament. In the C tournament, Jahan Rejepova (rating 2051) was awarded the third prize in the «blitz» discipline in the under-16 age category. Women's FIDE master Lala Shohradova (rating 2110) confirmed her professional status, increasing her rating by 22 points, which was a significant contribution to the overall ranking of the women's national team.

The representatives of the men's national team of Turkmenistan also performed well. International grandmaster Meylis Annaberdiyev (rating 2424) took 17th place among the 15 main prize-winners, which confirms his high level of play and competitiveness in the international arena.

Significant progress was made by FIDE master Amanmuhammet Hommadov (rating 2269), who increased his rating by 31.4 points, which became one of the most notable individual achievements of the team. A significant rating increase was also demonstrated by Vepaly Halynyazov (rating 2195), who increased his rating by 35.8 points.

The successful performance of our compatriots at the Russian chess crown confirms the effectiveness of the systematic work of the national Chess federation. This tournament has become an important stage in the preparation of the national team of Turkmenistan for the upcoming major international competitions, including the 46th World chess Olympiad, which will be held in September this year in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
