The President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, has been elected Chairman of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The election took place at the organization’s 46th General Assembly in Tashkent, according to a correspondent from Turkmenportal.
«Asia is the largest and most diverse continent in the Olympic family. This diversity is our greatest strength. But it also requires unity based on mutual respect and our shared commitment to Olympic values,» said the newly elected head of the OCA.
He emphasized that through unity it is possible to turn diversity into opportunities, strengthen the role of national Olympic committees, and provide young people with a platform to achieve success on the global sports stage.
As President of the OCA, Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani replaced India’s representative Randhir Singh, who stepped down early due to health reasons.
